Shellac, It’s Polish

It is common practice for many to get their manicure on the same day of an event to prevent the polish from chipping off. You will usually notice blemishes on your nails with regular polish within the first 24 hours. Imperfections or chips will occur just from doing everyday tasks that cause you to hit your nails against a surface or object. As soon as there is a chip anywhere on the nail, you lose the effect of the manicure, which requires your nails to be touched up.

Shellac is the Answer

Fortunately, there is an easy way to keep your manicure lasting longer. Shellac is an efficient way to have a manicure that doesn't chip easily. It can last weeks longer if you take care of your nails. There are many different brands, some longer lasting than others. The brand Here, There and Every Hair finds to be long lasting and does the least damage to your nails is Gelaze. If you take care of your nails, the only time it will need to be removed is when your nails start to grow. When the polish needs to be removed, the fingernail underneath is not dry and thin like other brands tend to leave your nails. By protecting your nails with the right shellac, you can reapply more often without risk of damaging your nails.

Save Money in the Long Run

Though Shellac manicures usually cost approximately $5 more than a regular manicure, they tend to last much longer than regular nail polish. The extra cost of the service is due to the higher cost of shellac polish and the additional time it takes the esthetician to do the manicure. If you were to take the time and money to get a professional manicure, the best money is spent on a shellac polish as you will get more bang for your buck.

Can You See The Light?

There are two different lamps to use to cure the polish; LED or UV. The curing time with an LED bulb is usually around 30 seconds as opposed to a UV light, which takes approximately 2 minutes. Here, There and Every Hair uses a LED lamp because it saves time and the light is not as harsh on our clients. LED lamps are also a bit safer to use on your skin as they emit less UV radiation than UV lamps do. With UV lamps, you may require eye protection as they can be damaging to the eyes.
